In normal life perspective, every person in this world has specific time interval to spend. Most of people like to term the life in the world as the journey from starting point which is the day the person was born to the destination, the day a person will die. In this journey there are many factors which at the end determine whether a person becomes happy, sad, broke or anything else.
John Maxwell says "You see, we’re all on a journey, whether we know it or not. We
are traveling inevitably toward the ends of our lives. So the real question for
us is whether we’re going to select a destination and steer a course for it, or
allow ourselves to be swept along with the tide, letting others determine
where we’ll end up. The choice is entirely up to us"
So this means we have to make a lot of selections when we are in this journey. Selection about our lives, selection about our families, especially partners to live with, selections about studies among others.
The fact comes, many young people loose hope along the journey. Many disappointments, among other things which go contrary to our expectations. But what's the truth? Are we failures? Aren't we lucky pursuing the goals we set in our lives. What's is the purpose of me being here till this time? I'm I wasting my time here in the world?
I was attending a Sunday service in certain church in Dar es salaam. When the Bishop came to stand and teach I was amazed by the teachings, making me re-think my life here in the world. The bishop said "Here in the world, we are on journey. We are actually divided into two groups in which each group is its own boat, meaning that we are divided into two boats. The first boat is full of people. There is every sort of luxuries, full of music, alcohol and immoral things but it's destination is fire" the Bishop continued to explain "the second boat carries few people. They are descent to follow God's principles. The destination of this boat is in heaven"
More importantly the bishop explained that both, these groups are facing the tempest from the ocean but the second group will not be shaken vigorously because Jesus is with them.
This sermon looks as simple thing. But if you try to think critically you will discover a lot of things.
We may take the first boat. It's actually full of people. They are free to do whatever they wish. A person is allowed to speak whatever word he/she wishes to speak. Whatever act in this boat is allowed, killing, prostitution among others.
Sometimes you may ask youself question! Are they right maybe? But where is to obtain the true information. We go into the words of God where we believe hundred percent true due to the reason that God himself holds the formula of our creation. Where in the Bible you find the informations about Sodom and Gomorrah. You may only take this as an example among many circumstances when God was Angry about this world. Were the people of Sodom and Gomorrah doing different things? Actually no. They are like the ones in the first boat.
This is discouraging. But I remember God say
John.3.16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (NIV)
They were the like things as those of Sodom and Gomorrah that made God change his mindset due to his love to us. He actually saw that it was impossible to please him by his laws. So the aim of Jesus Christ (or Emmanuel-God with us) to come was to deliver us from the burden of sins and we obtained our salvation by grace after his crucification on the cross.
Yes this is so. The question is still residing, why the first boat is still there? Probably the good news of Jesus Christ has not reached them. Maybe, they are not informed that after all those deeds, will end up in fire. Maybe they have not heard the goodness present in living with Holy spirit assisting in every circumstance.
Everyday I try hard to shout anyway, maybe oneday my sound will reach them. The sound which is in the form of song. The song from the psalms of king David. I plead maybe it will reach one of them so that he can taste and tell his/fellows how God is good. The sound actually says
Ps.34.8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. (NIV)
Actually when I said this statement one day "I don't know if they hear this voice" a young man who was standing by my side asked me "why do you say so?"
"They are filled of many things, secular music's, many sounds, can it be passived?" I replied, then the young man looked to me to his amazement. "There is no way they can not hear the message from God. But who hardens their hearts will actually gnash their teeth at the end" replied the young man such heavy words.
Anyways, let's go back to our topic
In the course of our life in this world, we need Jesus than anything. I say this because in normal circumstances we need to discover our purposes, we need peace, we need to be loved, we need to be encouraged, in short we need positive things. We have to know that God does these with true and pure heart.
He is the truth, he is the way and he is life!
John.14.6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV)
We always become truly happy in life after we start pursuing our purpose in life. Yeah that's true. Haven't you seen a person highly rich with money, big assets, companies etc but has not found even encountered a second of happiness?
Actually we discover the purpose after we know the true difinition of us. What is the dictionary of your life. Have you allowed people to define you? Normally we allow our parents to define us, our friends or our role models to define our life but we have to reach a point where we'll seek the true definition from God who knows the purpose of creating you. I haven't said that it's bad to hear our parents, friends or our role models but we have to be keen because we might take the route which isnt in the purpose of God for us.
When you go into the Bible, God asks his disciples about what they say he is, only Peter who was full of Holy spirit replied correctly
Luke.9.18 One day as Jesus was alone, praying, he came over to his disciples and asked them, "Who do people say I am?" (NLT)
Luke.9.19 "Well," they replied, "some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other ancient prophets risen from the dead." (NLT)
Luke.9.20 Then he asked them, "Who do you say I am?" Peter replied, "You are the Messiah sent from God!" (NLT)
So we have to seek the truth and our definition from God. Especially through reading his word(THE BIBLE), meditating his word, prayers, fellowship with him, praise and worship in order to move in the right track. Only this will transform most of us from the first boat to the second boat heading to heaven.
By the way as many men of God say "you need not to change yourself so that you come to Jesus, come to him as you are and he will change(transform) you"
Lastly, our God is clear to us and his promises are very true and good. He promises to everyone who accepts him and walks in the ways of God, he says
Ps.32.8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. (NIV)
